Oklahoma Health Practitioner Advisory Coalition (OHPAC)

Redefining the Health of Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Health Practitioner Advisory Coalition was founded because of a very clear need for change to take place at the state level in order to achieve better health. Functional and Integrative Practitioners are working in a world that doesn’t serve the goal of getting people well. The people of Oklahoma are unaware or overwhelmed when it comes to their health. It’s very challenging to get and stay healthy in a world that is centered on poor nutrition, unsustainable living and working environments, stress, and conventional approaches that don’t get to the root of chronic health issues.

In response, the Oklahoma Health Practitioner Advisory Coalition (OHPAC) brings together a diverse group of holistic health professionals, including nurses, nutritionists, and integrative practitioners, to advocate for healthier communities across the state. We are practitioners that see the ramifications of chronic illness daily. We see the challenges our clients face and that we have also faced personally. We see the consequences of legislation that go against true health and wellness. We see that conventional standards don’t work. We wouldn’t be so sick as a state if they did.

OHPAC partners directly with state legislators to shape policies that prioritize clean food, safe environments, informed consent, and root-cause-focused healthcare. By combining clinical expertise with legislative advocacy, OHPAC provides evidence-based insights that inform public health decisions and support long-term wellness. The coalition’s mission extends beyond policy change. It seeks to educate the public and empower Oklahomans to make informed health choices that prevent chronic illness and promote lasting vitality.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advise Oklahoma state legislators with evidence-based insights and strategies that promote sustainable food systems, environmental health, and root-cause focused care to prevent chronic illness for all Oklahomans.

We strive to foster legislative initiatives that enhance the well-being of our communities, ensuring access to clean food, safe environments, and resources that lead to improved health outcomes for all Oklahomans. What Sets Us Apart

At the heart of our organization is people.

We love our state. And, because we love our state, we want to make it healthier. Currently ranked #48 in health (U.S. News & World Report), it’s about time for change.

However, we know this change won’t happen overnight. We put relationship-building and education at the forefront of everything we do. If you have questions? We’ll find answers! If you have a counterpoint or new idea, talk to us about it! We love meaningful conversations.

Together, we hope to both amplify the conversation around health and make small steps toward change along the way.

Our Process

When you connect with us, you can expect us to…

1. Advise with Insight

Our Board of Directors and extended network of nurses, nutritionists, and integrative health professionals bring diverse expertise to the table. We consult on policy and provide evidence-based recommendations to support legislation that promotes cleaner food, safer environments, and a more root-cause-oriented approach to health.

2. Educate for Impact

While our current focus is legislative advising, we’re steadily growing into public education. Whether through media interviews, community events, or future projects like podcasts and workshops, we aim to empower Oklahomans to make informed health decisions, creating a culture of wellness that extends far beyond the Capitol.

Leading with Education

While we work to support legislation, we also believe in meeting Oklahomans where they are with practical, accessible health information. Whether it’s through community events, media appearances, or future initiatives like a podcast or hosted workshops, our aim is to destigmatize holistic health and empower individuals with knowledge they can use every day.

We’re committed to making complex health issues understandable and actionable, always grounded in research and delivered with empathy. As our organization grows, so will our educational outreach, because lasting change begins with informed communities.
